FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act)

The team in the Global Education Office recognizes the important role that family members play in supporting their students before, during, and after their study abroad experience.  However, per the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), the Global Education Office will communicate with a student’s family members only if we first have the written consent of the student.  We recommend that family members reference our Global Education website for more information and contact the student first to ask any questions they may have.

More information about FERPA can be found here: Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) | Saint Mary's College, Notre Dame, IN

Financial Information

Please reference our Finances page for information about costs associated with study abroad programs.

Note that when applying for a visa, students are typically required to show proof that they have enough funds to cover cost-of-living expenses (above and beyond tuition and accommodations).  Often, parents will be asked to sponsor their student and to provide proof of funds on behalf of the student.  Click here for more information about visa costs.
