Tuition Remission and Exchange Programs

Saint Mary's has several remission programs for eligible students. These programs are not based on financial need, but on other eligibility factors. They are considered Awards of Circumstance per NCAA Bylaws 15.4.6.3. Specific questions about remission programs may be directed to the Office of Financial Aid.

Each of the programs below cover tuition only during fall and spring semesters for students enrolled full time; these awards are limited to a maximum of 8 (eight) semesters.

Sibling Remission

Eligibility
Households with more than one full-time dependent student enrolled in an undergraduate program at Saint Mary's College. Typically the award is given to the younger sibling, but upon request may be split between the siblings or given to the older sibling instead.

10% of tuition (for one of the siblings) during fall and spring semesters

Yes, as long as the older sibling is still enrolled full-time in an undergraduate program

Saint Mary's College Employee Remission

Eligibilty
Dependent children (per IRS definition of a dependent) of eligible (as determined by the Human Resources Office) full-time employees of Saint Mary's College. For more information, click here.

Amount
Up to 100% of tuition. Cannot be used while the student is participating in a study abroad program.

Renewable
Yes, as long as the parent continues to work at Saint Mary's College in an eligible capacity

Saint Mary's Tuition Fulfillment for Students Using the Notre Dame Dependent Tuition Remission

Eligibility
Full-time Saint Mary’s College students utilizing the Notre Dame Dependent Tuition Remission benefit. Read here for more information.

Amount
A financial aid package from Saint Mary’s College covering 100% of the full-time tuition that is not covered through the Notre Dame Dependent Tuition Remission benefit.

Renewable
As long as the student continues using the Notre Dame Dependent Tuition Remission benefit.

How to Apply
Saint Mary’s College will apply this benefit automatically to students who qualify.

RA Room Grant

Eligibility
Students working as Resident Assistants

Amount
The cost of on-campus room.

Renewable
No. A student must be rehired as an RA to have the award again in future years.

CIC Tuition Exchange

Eligilibity
Employees, spouses, and dependent children of full-time employees at participating CIC institutions. Preference in selecting recipients is given to incoming students new to Saint Mary's College. Beginning fall of 2022, students new to the program must live on campus to receive the award.

Amount
100% of tuition, excluding study abroad. The tuition exchange award replaces any merit scholarship previously awarded by the Office of Admission.

Yes, provided the parent continues to work at an eligible institution.

CCC Tuition Exchange

Eligibility
Employees, spouses and dependent children of full-time employees at participating institutions. Preference in selecting recipients is given to incoming students new to Saint Mary's College. Beginning fall of 2022, students new to the programtudents must live on campus to receive the award.

100% of tuition, excluding study abroad. The tuition exchange award replaces any merit scholarship previously awarded by the Office of Admission.

Tuition Exchange, Inc

Eligiblity

Up to $40,000 (for the 2022-2023 year) of tuition, excluding study abroad. The tuition exchange award replaces any merit scholarship previously awarded by the Office of Admission.
