Laurel Thomas

Dr. Thomas provided more than her expertise by offering her guidance and support to each student. Dr. Thomas taught her students outside of the classroom -- a true  extension of time and treasure that any college could only hope for from their faculty.

As a seasoned vocal coach, she helped develop each student's capacity to grow into their own voice, but her lessons went beyond the malleable vocal chords; Dr. Thomas taught students how to embrace their voice within the Saint Mary's community through her thoughtful questions and insight.  I often felt as though I received a twofold mentorship through Dr. Thomas. She not only expanded my repertoire in vocal performance, but helped me develop my passion for music, as well as what I wanted to do with my time at Saint Mary's. Dr. Thomas was one of the rich resources held among the majority of her students, directly impacting their motivation and perspective in a positive light. It was through her guidance that Saint Mary's was enriched, and this community would not be the same without having had her outstanding qualities on our faculty.
