Kathleen McDonough Mundo ’91

Kathleen is a respected member of the Chicago legal community and supports a variety of non-profit organizations.

Her Story

Kathleen graduated law school in 1994, began her legal career in Miami and returned to Chicago in 1996.  She is a mother of three and is married to John Mundo (ND '88 ND law '91). Kathleen is a trial lawyer who was elected to equity partner at age 32, served many years in law firm management, and was the managing partner of a national law firm from 2010–16.  During this time she was also a columnist for Chicago Lawyer Magazine. Over the course of her career, Kathleen has served on multiple boards and has helped with fundraising for a number of local and national organizations, including: the Alzheimer's Association of Illinois, Mercy Home, IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law Board of Overseers, Friends of St. Columbanus Food Pantry, Christopher House, St. Josaphat Parish Council, Raoul for Attorney General, the Illinois Sudanese Community Association, and Chicago Lawyer Women's Advisory Panel, among others.

Kathleen credits her background as a humanistic studies major, coupled with minors in chemistry and political science, as preparing her for a career in law, litigation and business.  More than anything, her family, lifelong Saint Mary's friends, and learning how to "raise her hand" at an all-women's college has helped her throughout her career.
