Shannon Named to 2018 Academic All-District® Second Team by CoSIDA

NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Saint Mary's senior volleyball player Audrey Shannon was one of 15 NCAA Division III student-athletes to be named to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District® list for District 7 by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Shannon was selected as a Second Team Academic All-District® honoree. A student-athlete's performances both in the classroom and in the competitive arena are taken into account for consideration for the honor. A statistics and actuarial mathematics major at Saint Mary's, Shannon boasts better than a 3.95 cumulative grade point average. This season, she became the 14th player in Saint Mary’s volleyball history to reach 1,000 career digs. She is only the second player since 2005 to have back-to-back 500-dig seasons, and her digs per set average ranks among the top five in program history all-time. An MIAA Academic Honor Roll honoree last year, she has been on the Dean's List each semester and is a two-time Second Team All-MIAA honoree.

In addition to volleyball, she has served as the treasurer of the Math Club on campus.

Shannon is the second member of the Saint Mary's volleyball team to earn CoSIDA Academic All-District® accolades. She joins 2018 graduate Leah Buck as the two Belles to earn the distinction with the volleyball program.

To be eligible for Academic All-District® and Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 (on 4.00 scale), have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.

CoSIDA began the distinguished Academic All-America program in 1952, and since then, has honored thousands of deserving student-athletes from numerous sports across all divisions with these elite Academic All-America scholar-athlete honors.
