NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. - The Saint Mary's volleyball team took a 3-0 (25-20, 25-19, 25-20) win over Governors State before falling in a 3-2 (20-25, 26-28, 27-25, 25-19, 15-11) final against host Manchester on Saturday at the Manchester Invitational.
By virtue of their win yesterday over IU Northwest, the Belles clinched to tournament title with a 3-1 record on the weekend.
In the sweep of the Jaguars, Lindsey Pelletier hit .600 with 10 kills and one error on 15 attempts. Nicole Lukens chipped in nine kills and 12 digs, and Nola Wallace tallied a .538 attack percentage with eight kills as the Belles registered a .326 attack percentage in the match. Morgan VanderWey collected 25 assists, and Brittney Tarkanyi shared match-high honors with 12 digs.
Against Manchester, Nicole Lukens registered a big double-double with 22 kills and 25 digs. Nola Wallace added 12 kills, and Lindsey Pelletier put down 11 kills with four blocks. VanderWey registered 45 assists, and Audrey Shannon led the Belles with 33 digs.
Lukens and VanderWey were both named to the all-tournament team for their efforts on the weekend.
The Belles (5-5) open up MIAA play on Tuesday, September 18 when they host Albion at 7:00 p.m.
