ANGOLA, Ind. - The Saint Mary's tennis team opened up their 2018 MIAA slate of competition with an 8-1 win over Trine on Wednesday evening.

Monica Davy and Megan Davy were the first pair off as the duo took an 8-0 win at one doubles. Lily Brandt and Elizabeth Preister were 8-4 victors at three doubles, and Maddie Minaudo and Lilly Chamberlin took a matching 8-4 win at two doubles for the 3-0 Saint Mary's lead.

Monica Davy carried over her momentum from one doubles by taking a 6-2, 6-1 win at one singles for the Belles. Megan Davy bounced back from a second-set loss for a 6-3, 2-6, 6-0 decision at two singles to clinch the team win. Maddie Minaudo claimed a 6-3, 6-2 win at four singles. Kelsey Kopf came up on the short side of a 6-2, 6-2 final at three singles. Elizabeth Preister dropped just one game in a 6-0, 6-1 win at six singles. Lilly Chamberlin capped off the team win with a come-from-behind 2-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-2) victory at five singles.

The Belles (7-4, 1-0 MIAA) are back in action on Saturday, April 7 when they travel to Adrian for a 1:00 p.m. conference match.
