Belles Conclude Run at ITA Regional Tournament
OBERLIN, Ohio - The Saint Mary's tennis team had their run at the ITA Central Region Tournament come to an end on a hot Saturday in Ohio.
In doubles play, Maddie Minaudo and Elizabeth Preister claimed an 8-2 win over Morris/Liebler from Baldwin Wallace in their first match of Saturday in the back draw doubles bracket. The pair fought in a tight second match of the day against Bergman/Sutter from Otterbein only to come up just short in an 8-6 final.
Monica Davy and Megan Davy had their run in the consolation doubles bracket stopped early in an 8-3 loss to Augustana's Timm/Badawi.
In the Oberlin Open singles competition, several Belles competed on Saturday. Lilly Chamberlin came back from a 6-2 first set loss to win the second set 6-4. In the tiebreaker, she came up just shy in a 10-6 final against a competitor from Otterbein. Monica Davy took a straight-set 6-3, 6-2 win over Wooster's Shannon Sertz.
Kelsey Kopf fell in a 6-4, 6-1 final against Lake Forest's Leeza Bodnar, and Megan Davy had a 6-3, 6-1 setback against Chiara Gaudio from Elmhurst
The Belles have their first home match of the season on Thursday, September 28 when they host Huntington at 4:00 p.m.
