FREELAND, Mich. - The 2018 Saint Mary's softball team continues to shatter program records as the Belles had six members of the team earn All-MIAA accolades for the 2018 season. Morgan Raymer was named the MIAA Pitcher of the Year and earned a spot on the First Team. Makenzie Duncan, Cassie Young, and Jamie Young were also First Team selections. Jessica Alberts and Kelsey Keilman were named to the Second Team.

Morgan Raymer led the league with eight pitching victories and two saves in 2018. Her ERA of 1.89 was the third-lowest among league pitchers and was tops among pitchers with over 58 innings of work. A three-time MIAA Pitcher of the Week, she had three complete-game shutouts as MIAA opponents posted just over a .200 batting average against Raymer in conference play. The senior surrendered just six extra-base hits in 59.1 innings in the circle and had saves against Adrian and Trine. A Second Team selection in 2016 and a First Team honoree last season, it is the third All-MIAA honor and first MIAA Pitcher of the Year recognition of her career. Raymer is the program's first Pitcher of the Year as the MIAA began bestowing the distinction in 2007.

Makenzie Duncan was one of two players who solely play outfield to earn a spot on the First Team. The senior posted a .407 batting average in conference play with five doubles, three triples and two home runs. She led all league players in RBI (25) during the 2018 season. Her batting average, slugging percentage, doubles, and triples totals were all in the top ten among MIAA softball players this spring. A Second Team honoree in 2017, the First Team recognition is the first of her career.

Cassie Young was the second of two players who solely play outfield to be named to the First Team. An MIAA Position Player of the Week, the senior was in the top six overall with a .447 batting average in league play and was fourth in total walks in 2018. She was sixth in on-base percentage, doubles, and total RBI in conference play. In the nine games of conference play in which she had at least three official at-bats, Young tallied at least one hit in eight of those contests. Additionally, she posted multiple hits in six of those same nine games. She is one of the first two softball players in program history to earn All-MIAA honors in each of her four seasons.

Jamie Young was the only shortstop to earn First Team recognition in 2018, marking the third consecutive year the senior has been the lone shortstop to be tabbed to the First Team. Young broke the single-season MIAA record with 32 hits in 2018. She tallied multiple hits in 11 of the 16 conference games of the season and had at least one hit in all but one contest this spring. She was second among all players in the conference in triples and was third in batting average and runs scored. Young was also fourth in on-base percentage and fifth in slugging percentage during the season. She joins Cassie Young as one of the first two softball players in program history to earn All-MIAA honors in each of her four seasons.

Jessica Alberts was named to the Second Team after a huge senior season. Among pitchers with at least two appearances and at least one pitching decision, Alberts was the only pitcher in league play not to suffer a loss as she posted a 7-0 record. She was second in ERA with a 1.35 while pitching 41.1 innings in 2018. Alberts held her opponents to a .238 batting average and walked just six batters in conference play. She had two complete-game shutouts and was part of a shared shutout this spring. The Second Team All-MIAA recognition is the first of her career.

Kelsey Keilman was a Second Team honoree in 2018 after posting the fourth-highest batting average in league play with a .500 average. She was second overall in runs scored this spring and tied for third in total hits. Her on-base percentage was the fifth-highest among all players in league statistics. Keilman had eight multi-hit games in conference play this spring, which included six of the final seven contests of the season. It is the first All-MIAA honor of her career.

It is the first time in the 20 years Saint Mary's has been a member of the MIAA that six members of any team have earned All-MIAA accolades. Additionally, it is the fourth consecutive year at least three members of the Saint Mary's softball team have been named All-MIAA.
