Belles Shut Out by Bulldogs

ADRIAN, Mich. - The Saint Mary's soccer team fell in a 6-0 final at Adrian on Tuesday night.
The host Bulldogs got on the scoreboard quickly against Saint Mary's as Adrian tallied a goal in the ninth minute, the 12th minute, and the 19th minute for a 3-0 lead. The home side added a fourth goal in the final minute of the opening period to hold a 4-0 advantage at the break.
The Belles nearly broke through in the opening two minutes of the second period. Saint Mary's earned a corner kick. Maya Cole took the corner and put the ball in dangerous position in the box. Rose Stackhouse was on the receiving end of that corner and sent a header shot just high of the crossbar. A short while later, Stackhouse had a pair of shots on goal saved as the Belles continued to put some pressure on the Adrian backline. In the 65ht minute, Ashley Hernandez added a shot on goal only the have the effort saved. Thallia Robles made a pair of saves a few moments later, but the Bulldogs capitalized on a set piece in the 74th minute for a 5-0 lead. Adrian added a goal in the 80th minute for the 6-0 final margin.

The Belles (6-10, 1-5 MIAA) return home to host Hope on Saturday at noon.
