Belles Shut Out by Flying Dutch

HOLLAND, Mich. - After more than an hour and a half weather delay suspended play in the second half, the Saint Mary's soccer team could not quite put together the comeback as they were on the wrong side of a 2-0 decision at Hope on Thursday night.

The Flying Dutch got back-to-back goals at 34:12 and 35:52 for what proved to be the only goals of the contest.

Ten minutes into the second half of play, the contest was halted for lightning. More than an hour and a half later, the game resumed play. The Belles turned away a pair of Hope shots on goal in the next ten minutes of action. Saint Mary's earned a corner kick in the final five minutes of play but were unable to convert on the set-play opportunity as Maggie McLaughlin's shot was saved.

Kelly Wilson had a pair of shots on goal for the Belles. Maggie McLaughlin added a shot on goal in the game.

Chanler Rosenbaum had seven saves in 90 minutes of play in goal on the night.

Saint Mary's (11-5-2, 8-5-1 MIAA) will travel to in-state MIAA rival Trine on Saturday for a noon contest against the Thunder.
