Dance Marathon Let's Spoon Fundraiser

Dance Marathon is several months away (Saturday, March 23, 2013), but the fundraising for Riley Hospital for Children has already begun. The public is invited to participate in the following event. Let’s Spoon Give Back Night: Visit either Let’s Spoon location in South Bend (1635 Edison Road or 1290 Ireland Road) and, as long as you bring along the coupon, 20 percent of the sales will go towards the Dance Marathon total.

Chipotle Fundraiser for Dance Marathon

Dance Marathon is a few months away (Saturday, March 23, 2013), but the fundraising for Riley Hospital for Children has already begun. Riley Hospital, located in Indianapolis, treats sick children from all over the state, including the South Bend area. Since Saint Mary’s students began the Dance Marathon in 2006, they have raised more than $460,000 for the General Benefit Fund at Riley, which supports the areas of the hospital that have the greatest need. The public is invited to participate in the following event on Thursday, December 6, 2012. Chipotle Fundraiser Night: Visit the Chipotle at 1251 Eddy Street (Eddy Street Commons) between 2 and 10 p.m. and, as long as you bring along the coupon, 50 percent of the sales will go towards the Dance Marathon total for Riley. Sexual Assault Awareness Month Programming Announced
January 1, 2012
In recognition of April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month, the Belles Against Violence Office (BAVO) invites the public to participate in events intended to educate and empower young people. College-aged women and high school seniors may benefit the most from the programming, which includes the annual Take Back the Night march on Thursday, April 19 and a presentation titled “Beat the Blame Game” on Tuesday, April 24.

Catholic Charities USA (CCUSA) Board of Trustees member Kathleen Flynn Fox '74 received an honorary doctorate last weekend from her alma mater Saint Mary's College. Fox, a successful businesswoman, has dedicated more than 30 years of her life to service and advocacy on behalf of those most in need. Since 1980, she has been an avid volunteer working directly with children, promoting children’s literacy, and supporting programs that assist those in poverty.

Promoting Peace Through Partnerships (International Educator)

In its January/February issue, International Educator magazine looks at hands-on peace studies education opportunities offered by colleges and highlights Saint Mary’s six-week summer practicum in Kyarusozi, Uganda. Education and nursing majors live and work with the Sisters of the Holy Cross there and immerse themselves in the local community offering skilled teaching and healthcare assistance. The program is offered through the College’s Center for Women’s Intercultural Leadership (CWIL).
