Two Valedictorians for Class of 2012 (Observer)
January 2, 2012
Two valedictorians will leave a unique legacy at the College when they address the Saint Mary’s Class of 2012 at Saturday’s Commencement ceremony. Seniors Annie Bulger and Krystal Holtcamp were named co-valedictorians for the Class of 2012. Both students earned perfect 4.0 grade point averages during their time at the College.

2012 Lumen Christi Award Recipient

The Lumen Christi Award is presented each year to a member of the senior class who is recognized by the College community as an outstanding Christian woman; someone who has excelled in leadership and loyalty to Saint Mary's College and whose presence has had a profound effect on the College community. The Lumen Christi Award is the highest award the College confers upon a student. This year the recipient is Nicole Gans.

Business Student's Internship is a "Home Run" (mlive.com)

Nichole Clayton '13, a business administration major from Bay City, Michigan, is enjoying her internship this summer at the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York. She discovered the opportunity online and applied for the internship on a whim. After submitting her resume and conducting a 45-minute phone interview, she was one of 15 selected from a pool of 500 candidates.

Professors on Census Bureau's Poverty Report (WSBT-TV)

A new report by the Census Bureau shows it is not getting any easier for our country's poor and middle classes. The nation’s poverty rate last year was nearly unchanged from the previous year. The report paints a bleak picture just six weeks before voters head to the polls. WSBT-TV interviewed Richard Measell, assistant professor of economics, and Sean Savage, professor of political science, to sort out what this says about the economy and what it could mean for the election.

Enkhbayar, a Mongolian student from a family of sheepherders, is one of 20 female students who were here this summer for the inaugural Global Women's Leadership Institute, part of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's Women in Public Service project. With a grant from the State Department, Saint Mary's College played host to participants from Egypt, Libya, Mongolia, Myanmar, and Tunisia.

College Welcomes Intelligent, Athletic Class of 2016 (The Observer)

When the Class of 2016 arrives at Saint Mary’s this week, the incoming freshmen will be a part of one of the largest and most unique classes in school history. Director of Admission Kristin McAndrew said the College is welcoming 418 freshmen to the school this week. This number is slightly larger than the 396 students in the Class of 2015.
