Janet Gay Horvath ’00 Receives 2015 Outstanding Young Alumna Award
The Outstanding Young Alumna Award, awarded annually by the Alumnae Association of Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame, IN, honors an alumna who exhibits leadership not only in her personal and professional accomplishments, but also in her involvement with the Alumnae Association and/or the College. A candidate for this award would have graduated from this Catholic liberal arts women’s college within the last 15 years.

IT Unveils BelleMobile, a Mobile App for Students
Saint Mary’s students who want to know if there’s a free computer in the library or an open washing machine in their residence hall, check on a homework assignment or a grade, see what’s on the lunch menu or if there’s something to do on campus tonight, are in luck. There’s an app for that. It’s called BelleMobile and it’s available for download for iOS or Android devices.

Catherine Hammel Frischkorn ’75 Receives 2014 Humanitas Award
The Humanitas Award, awarded annually by the Alumnae Association of Saint Mary’s College of Notre Dame, IN, recognizes an alumna of the Catholic liberal arts women’s college who is outstanding in her personal and volunteer accomplishments and is recognized for her concern for the interests and welfare of her fellow human beings. Her actions exemplify the qualities of personal dedication, compassion, selflessness and sacrifice through social action, education, and reform within the community, the Church, and the world.

The Alumna Achievement Award, awarded annually by the Alumnae Association of Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame, IN, honors an alumna of the Catholic women’s college who is outstanding in her personal and professional accomplishments and is a recognized leader in her field of endeavor. The honoree exemplifies the standards, ideals, and mission of the College in its commitment to the value of a Christian liberal arts education.

Saint Mary’s Raises over $600,000 in 24-hour Donor Challenge
Saint Mary’s College is pleased to announce the successful completion of its third 24-Hour Donor Challenge, which was held yesterday, April 23. Two anonymous donors pledged $175,000 to the Annual Fund if 3,000 donors made gifts within 24 hours. By the end of the night, 3,486 alumnae, friends, faculty, staff and students invested $425,881 in Saint Mary’s. With the $175,000 challenge gift, more than $600,000 was raised for Saint Mary’s in just 24 hours.

Hecklinski Hits Milestone as Belles Outlast Brits
NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Senior outside hitter Katie Hecklinski pounded down a career-high 24 kills on her way to becoming the seventh player in Saint Mary's volleyball history to eclipse 1,000 career kills as the Belles outlasted Albion, 3-2 (27-25, 26-28, 21-25, 25-22, 18-16).

Pamela Carey Batz ’70 Receives 2015 Distinguished Alumna Award
The Distinguished Alumna Award, awarded annually by the Alumnae Association of Saint Mary’s College of Notre Dame, IN, honors a woman who exemplifies the standards, ideals, and mission of this Catholic liberal arts women’s college and who has given outstanding service through ongoing work for the Alumnae Association. The award is the association’s highest recognition.

College's SPARK Program Sparks Another Business (South Bend Tribune)
Last fall, Colleen Spano enrolled in the SPARK program offered through the Women’s Entrepreneurship Initiative at Saint Mary’s College. Her goal was to start a behavior consulting business, but during the seminars the idea for Shear Sunshine began to form. The new hair-cutting business is geared toward children with sensory processing disorders. SPARK assists local under-resourced, high-potential female entrepreneurs to “spark” or launch successful businesses. The next session is expected to be offered in the fall of 2015.
