So it’s no surprise that high school seniors are placing greater emphasis on career preparation when they choose a college. Finding a school that supports both their academic goals and their career goals has become a top priority. December 21, 2023 Farm’s Harvest Cultivates Greater Fruits Food brings people together. It gathers us at a shared table and invites others in. This fall, Saint Mary’s College experienced firsthand the power of what producing and sharing food can do for the community with the completion of the Sustainable Farm’s first market season. Situated on the northern edge of campus, the farm is bearing fruit, becoming a growing space that welcomes, gathers, and feeds the College and its neighbors. December 20, 2023 Sisters Sisters “Sisters, sisters / There were never such devoted sisters . . .” Who can ever forget that song of constant sisterhood sung by Rosemary Clooney and Vera-Ellen in the classic film White Christmas? The spirit of that song certainly infuses this conversation between the Murphy sisters— Nancy Murphy Spicer ’79 and Marianne Murphy Zarzana (ND ’78)—centered on Nancy’s rich career as a multidisciplinary artist and, more recently, as a Certified Professional Coach. December 20, 2023 Centralized Research Office Opens at Saint Mary’s When Grace Layman ’24 needed advice for her application to the Fulbright Program, she learned a world of resources was just steps away in Madeleva Hall. That’s where a new academic research and grants office has opened for faculty, staff, and students. Anyone looking for grant funding or for advice on publishing can utilize the Office for Academic Research, Grants, and Sponsored Programs. There, a full complement of support services aims to centralize the wide range of opportunities and resources for the campus community. November 16, 2023 Music Department Draws in High School Choirs The Saint Mary’s College Music Department hosts its 38th Annual Treble Choir Festival, which welcomes 20 high school treble choirs from across the Midwest. This annual gathering is a unique opportunity to provide local treble choirs with exposure to other high school choirs of its kind, and the Saint Mary’s College women’s choir, Belles Voix. November 10, 2023 Announcing New Vice President for Strategy and Finance President Katie Conboy announced that Peter L. Christensen will join her leadership team on January 16, 2024 as Vice President for Strategy and Finance. Christensen comes to Saint Mary's from New York University’s campus in Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) where he serves as Chief Administrative Business Officer & Associate Vice President for Strategic Initiatives. November 9, 2023 Bernstein, Goodman, Perlman…Menk Not many can say they’ve played Carnegie Hall. Even fewer can say they’ve done it eight times. On November 13, Dr. Nancy Menk will have the honor of playing the famed venue, and will take 10 Saint Mary's students with her. October 31, 2023 The Gift of Our Lady Perhaps the most precious gift the University of Notre Dame ever received was a gift from the women of Saint Mary’s.
