January 1, 2015 Saint Mary’s College is proud to announce that it will hold its fourth Global Women Leaders Institute, a U.S. Department of State Study of the U.S. Institute (SUSI). This summer’s SUSI welcomes 20 undergraduate women from Egypt, Tunisia, Iraq, and Jordan, plus six Saint Mary’s students. The Study of the U.S. Institute is part of a broader State Department initiative to promote a better understanding of the U.S. abroad and help develop future world leaders. The program allows undergraduate women from around the world to improve their leadership skills while learning about the United States. SPARK is intended to assist local under-resourced, high-potential female entrepreneurs and artists to “spark” or launch successful businesses. Candidates must apply in person at a mandatory 2-hour orientation and screening session at 6 to 9 p.m. on Monday, August 31 in classroom 134 of Spes Unica Hall. Applicants must be there by 6 p.m. to be considered. Twenty-eight people will be selected for the program.
