Make a Big Noise for Peace

Place: Cushwa-Leighton Library, Saint Mary's College

Description: The Saint Mary's College Justice Education Program, the Center for Women’s Intercultural Leadership, and the Cushwa-Leighton Library invites the public to “Make a Big Noise for Peace” on Friday, March 4 from 7-9 p.m. in the library. People are encouraged to bring their own drum and/or percussion instrument and be a part of a drumming and rhythm circle with local musician Judith Hizer and friends. An open microphone for peace will follow. The public is invited to share an original or favorite poem or thought on peace, war, and reconciliation. 

Attendees can also help create two panels from Saint Mary's College for the CodePink Peace Ribbon currently exhibited in the library. CodePink is a women-initiated grassroots peace and social justice movement working to end the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, stop new wars, and redirect our resources into healthcare, education, green jobs and other life-affirming activities.
