Masking and Booster Updates
Saint Mary's Stories
The following letter was sent to the campus community on January 28, 2022.
Dear Saint Mary’s Community,
We are writing today to provide an update on our masking requirements and the status of our booster compliance.
We mentioned earlier this month that our community would mask indoors through the end of January, at which time we’d reevaluate based on the health of our campus community, as well as the greater external community. Because our local numbers are not where we can confidently relax our protocols, we will extend the indoor masking policy through February 14. This means all students and employees will continue to wear masks indoors, except in private residence hall rooms for students, and private offices for employees. We are hopeful that last week’s high number of positive cases was the peak of our surge, and that trend will drop as predicted. Until we know, please remember to exercise good judgment.
As a reminder, the College has received a FREE supply of KN95s and disposable surgical masks from the Indiana Department of Health. Students, faculty, and staff can access these supplies immediately. Supplies are limited, and are offered on a first come, first-served basis. Distribution sites include the following offices and locations:
- Residence Halls—Front Desks in Holy Cross, Le Mans, McCandless, Regina
- Angela Athletic Center—Athletics Office, Health and Counseling Center
- Le Mans Hall—Academic Advising, Student Affairs
- Library—Front desk
- Student Center—Campus Ministry, Equity and Inclusion, Office of the Common Good, Student Involvement
- Welcome Center—Graduate Programs
- Spes Unica—Career Crossings
We are pleased to report the vast majority of you who are eligible have documented your booster record. If you have received your booster and haven’t already let us know, please take a moment to visit the Medicat site if you’re a student, or this form if you’re an employee to upload your record. The deadline for eligible students to remain in compliance with the new vaccination requirement has passed. To avoid a Student Code of Conduct violation, you must let us know immediately of your vaccination status. The deadline for employees to upload their record is Monday, February 7.
A renewed thank you to our campus community. We remain hopeful that as the semester progresses, we can continue to move toward a more traditional campus experience. If you have questions not answered here, please refer to the full list of protocols outlined earlier this semester.
Warm regards,
