Saint Mary’s College to hold 172nd Commencement Ceremony

May 17, 2019 (Notre Dame, Ind.) — Saint Mary’s College is proud to announce details of the 172nd Commencement, which will take place at noon on Saturday, May 18 on Le Mans Green. Three hundred forty-five students will graduate from the College with undergraduate degrees. Thirty-one students will receive master’s degrees and five students will receive a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree.

Three valedictorians in the Class of 2019 will deliver a join valedictory address: Natalie Dock, a communicative sciences and disorders major with minors in psychology and business, Monica McGrath, a statistical and actuarial math major with a minor in computer science, and Elizabeth Preister, a communicative sciences and disorders major.

Kelly Grier, a 1991 alumna of Saint Mary’s College and EY US Chairman and Managing Partner and EY Americas Managing Partner, will deliver the Commencement Address to the Class of 2019 and receive an honorary degree. Elected last year for a four-year term, Kelly is the first woman to lead the giant accounting and professional-services firm in the Americas and was named to Fortune Magazine’s 2018 Most Powerful Women in Business list.

Sister Maureen Grady, CSC, will also receive an honorary degree for her work as a nursing lecturer, and her service for more than 20 years in war zones in the Middle East as Chief Operating Officer for Catholic Near East Welfare, caring for war victims and supporting the restoration of social services and infrastructure in Lebanon and Syria.

In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be in the Angela Athletic & Wellness Complex. The decision to be indoors or outdoors will be made Saturday, May 18. A livestream feed is also available here.
