Auditions: South Bend Chamber Singers

The South Bend Chamber Singers (SBCS), the region’s premier vocal chamber ensemble, announces auditions for its 27th concert series, 2015-16. Experienced singers from the region should bring a prepared solo and will be tested on sight-reading and aural abilities. Auditions will be held Aug. 30 to Sept. 4 in room 309 of Moreau Center for the Arts at Saint Mary’s College. Concerts for 2015-16

December 20, 2015: Christmas at Loretto
This concert showcases new music for the season performed in a great acoustical space of Church of Loretto on the Saint Mary’s campus. It will feature the world premiere of a new work for chorus and strings by American composer Daniel Knaggs, along with favorite carols in new arrangements.

March 20, 2016: New Beginnings: A Mother’s Journey
The chamber singers will join with the Saint Mary’s College Women’s Choir to premiere a new Stabat Mater setting by South Bend composer Jorge Muñiz in New Beginnings: A Mother’s Journey, a concert focusing on the theme of Motherhood and benefiting Hannah’s House.

May 22, 2016: Choral Creatures--Music Devoted to All Animals, Great and Small
Joining the chamber singers will be the Notre Dame Children’s Choir for the premiere of a new work by Chicago composer Paul Carey. This concert will be repeated in August 2016 at the Potawatomi Zoo.
