Sister Brenda Marie Curran, CSC
( - November 1, 2008)
Please, join in prayer of thanksgiving for this Sister of the Holy Cross who died on November 1, 2008.
Sister Brenda Marie was a community woman through and through. She was grateful for all the opportunities the community gave her and in particular for the spiritual advantages of community prayer and living.
She entered Holy Cross at the tender age of 15 and spent over 40 years as an elementary school teacher, then added three more years tutoring students. At 65 she turned her life of educational ministry to one of internal ministry supporting and giving service to the members of the community. She spent nearly 20 years cheerfully ministering to the elder sisters of the Congregation. Her generosity and wonderful sense of humor stood her in good stead during these years of loving service.
She spoke of the living example of the saintly sisters with whom she lived and what a joy it was to be with them. She was particularly appreciative of the privilege of sitting with the sick sisters as they prepared for heaven; she called this a wonderful opportunity to meditate on death as a beautiful reality to anticipate. On Saturday morning she had the joy of making that meditation a reality of her own. How appropriate that she should join the saints in heaven on the feast of All Saints.
Funeral arrangements for Sister Brenda Marie are as follows: Reception of the body at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, November 3, 2008, with the Mass of Resurrection and the eulogy at 10:30 the same day. All of these ceremonies will take place in the Church of Our Lady of Loretto. May Sister rest in peace.
