FOREST GROVE, Ore. - The Saint Mary's lacrosse team claimed a 19-2 win over Pacific on Tuesday afternoon.
Raigan Althouse put the Belles on the scoreboard with an unassisted goal 2:28 into the game. Kate Kelly added an unassisted goal almost three minutes later, and Erin Doyle made it a 3-0 lead by converting a pass from Althouse for the early Saint Mary's lead.
The Boxers capitalized on a free position attempt with 18:12 on the clock in the first half, but the Belles rattled off nine consecutive goals over the final 13:30 of the period to take a 12-1 lead at halftime. During that nine-goal stretch, four different players scored at least one goal - Erin Doyle, Molly Stout, Kate Kelly, and Hanna Makowski.
After the halftime break, Rachael Leonard tallied an unassisted goal almost five minutes into the period. Zoe Gatzimos then found the back of the net off of a pass from Kate Kelly for her first goal of her collegiate career. Clare Theisen, Doyle, Kelly, and Makowski added goals as the Belles out-scored the Boxers 7-1 over the second half of play for the 19-2 win.
Saint Mary's held a 36-12 advantage in shots and won 19 of 21 draw controls in the contest. The Belles continued to be highly efficient on free position shots as Saint Mary's converted five of nine eight-meter shots into goals.
Erin Doyle led the way with five goals and an assist. Kate Kelly added four goals, two assists, and a school record 10 draw controls. Molly Stout matched her career-high mark for goals in a game with four. Hanna Makowski sent home a pair of goals, and Clare Theisen added a goal, two assists, and four ground balls.
Raigan Althouse chipped in a goal and an assist. Rachael Leonard added a goal, four ground balls, and four caused turnovers. Zoe Gatzimos registered her first career goal on her lone shot of the contest. Kendra Osinski picked up four ground balls in the contest.
Emily Kraker made seven saves in goal for the Belles.
The Belles (3-0) conclude their trip to Oregon on Wednesday when they face Linfield at 5:00 p.m. PDT.
