PROCEDURES
Saint Mary's College strives to assure a safe and healthy working environment for all employees. The following information discusses the proper procedures for reporting work related incidents/injuries. It is very important that all incidents/injuries be reported immediately regardless of the nature or seriousness of the incident or if medical treatment is requested or not.
Any time an on-the-job incident/injury occurs, you should immediately report it to your supervisor and complete an Incident Report (see below for online copy). Incident Reports are also available in Human Resources. The Incident Report must be completed and delivered to Human Resources within 24 hours of the incident.
If you require emergency medical attention, you should complete the Incident Report, notify your supervisor, and immediately call 911 for emergency transportation. Please make sure you advise the hospital it is a work-related injury and request that the bill be forwarded to the Saint Mary's College, Human Resources Office for processing with our Workman's Compensation insurance company.
Non-emergency medical treatment needs to be handled through the Human Resources Office. An Incident Report must be completed. They must authorize and schedule all appointments/follow-ups/therapy sessions. When possible, appointments must be made outside working hours.
If an injury occurs outside of the normal business hours of the Human Resources Office and medical attention is needed, follow the instructions for emergency medical attention. Human Resources must be advised of any treatment that was received on the day of injury.
If medical attention is authorized, you are NOT to use your health insurance card or prescription card. Authorization and scheduling of appointments must be handled by Human Resources.
Lost time from injury/illness or for medical appointments must be recorded on your time card or absence report. Human Resources needs to be advised of these appointments and lost time so that you will be paid appropriately.
Prescriptions may be filled at Walgreens at no cost to you. Do not use your health insurance prescription card. If an employee chooses another pharmacy they must purchase the medication themselves. The employee may then turn in receipts to Human Resources and will be reimbursed by the Workman's Compensation insurance company.
If you have any questions, please contact the Human Resources office at 284-4542. Office hours are 8:00 a.m. till 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
