MARSHALL, Mich. - The Saint Mary's golf team claimed first place at the opening MIAA Jamboree of the season on Thursday afternoon.
The Belles posted a team score of 326 for the victory at the Medalist Golf Club. Hope was second with a 332, and host Albion placed third with a 346. Hope's Abby Meder was the round medalist with a 74.
Summer Stillson paced the Belles with a 78 to finish tied for second place in the field of 54 golfers. Hunter Kehoe was three strokes behind as she carded an 81 to tie for seventh place individually. Sydney Hruskoci turned in an 82 for a share of ninth place. Taylor Kehoe wrapped up the team score and the win with an 85 while finishing tied for 17th.
Lauren Read was the fifth golfer in the lineup for the Belles and shot an 87 to tie for 20th. Maggie Sexton competed as an individual at the event and posted a score of 86 to finish 19th overall.
The Belles are away from competition until Saturday, September 22 when they host the second MIAA Jamboree at Knollwood Country Club starting at 1:00 p.m.
