THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - The Saint Mary's golf team shaved 29 strokes off of their score yesterday to turn in a 332 for the third-lowest team score of the day at the Cal Lutheran Regals Invitational on Tuesday.
Claremont Mudd Scripps won the two-day tournament at Sunset Hills Country Club after firing a 302 to finish with a final score of 621. Host Cal Lutheran placed second after a 321 on Tuesday gave the Regals a 650. Pomona-Pitzer finished third with a 333 on Tuesday for a final score of 658.
Margaret Loncki of Claremont Mudd Scripps was the tournament medalist after shooting a one-under par 71 on Tuesday to finish with a two-day score of 146.
Taylor Kehoe led the way for the Belles and had the third-lowest individual score of the round with a three-over par 73. The junior moved up 14 places individually to place fifth overall with a 161, giving her all-tournament honors for the event.
Summer Stillson had an 82 on Tuesday while classmate Hunter Kehoe carded an 83. Stillson placed 31st overall with a final score of 177, and Hunter Kehoe finished with a share of 20th place with a 169. Courtney Quinlan wrapped up the team score of 332 with a 92. The senior placed 47th overall with a final two-day total of 196.
Kelsey Conkright was the fifth player in the lineup for the Belles and shot a 96. She placed 41st overall with a score of 190.
The Belles return to competition on Saturday and Sunday, March 24 and 25 at the Miami Whitewater Classic in Ohio hosted by Mount St. Joseph University.
