NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Saint Mary's cross country team was one of seven Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) women's programs to earn United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division III All-Academic Team recognition for the 2017 season.
According to the USTFCCCA, a team must have competed and compiled a team score at an NCAA Regional meet and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.10 on a 4.0 scale in order to be considered for the distinction.
The Belles turned in a cumulative GPA of 3.22 for the Fall 2017 semester and placed 29th at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional in November. Fellow MIAA members Albion, Alma, Calvin, Hope, Olivet, and Trine joined Saint Mary's on the women's list for 2017. Overall, 221 NCAA Division III women's cross country teams were recognized for their work athletically and academically this past season.
It is the eighth consecutive season the Saint Mary's cross country team has garnered the USTFCCCA NCAA Division III All-Academic Team honor.
