Belles Place Seventh at MIAA Championship Race

ADRIAN, Mich. - The Saint Mary's cross country team took seventh place at the MIAA Championship race at Raisin Valley Golf Club in Adrian, Michigan on Saturday afternoon.

Hope, who is ranked No. 18 nationally, won the race with a team score of 20. Calvin, who is ranked fifth in the Great Lakes Region, was second with a score of 66. The Belles had a team score of 195 for the seventh place finish.

Adele Emonds led the Belles by crossing the finish line in 24:08.6 to place 46th overall while earning 30 points toward the team score. Anna McClowry was 51st overall and added 33 points after she turned in a time of 24:21.2, an improvement of 30 seconds off of her 6k time from two weeks ago.

Katie Glenn, Maura Honan, Emily Harrast, and Fiona Winfrey all finished within five seconds of one another. Glenn was 72nd overall and picked up 43 points while Honan was 73rd and contributed 44 points to the score as the pair finished within a tenth of a second of one another. Glenn's official time was 25:36.3, and Honan registered a 25:36.4 time in the 6k race.

Harrast and Winfrey were within one-and-two-tenths of a second of each other just a few strides behind Glen and Honan. Harrast (74th place) secured the team score with 45 points with a time of 25:40.4 for her first sub-26 6k since her freshman season. Winfrey posted a personal record time of 25:41.6 for 75th place overall as the sophomore shaved 12 seconds off of her previous 6k PR time.

Shanan Hamilton ran a 26:29.1 and finished 91st overall. KC McQuaid clocked a 27:49.8 to place 104th.

The Belles have a week off before competing in the NCAA Regional race on Saturday, November 11 in Ohio.
