Direct Admission for Holy Cross Students

Saint Mary’s is pleased to offer direct admission to students from Holy Cross who choose to complete a degree at SMC.

In order to qualify for direct admission to Saint Mary’s, a Holy Cross student should:

  • Identify herself as female in her application for admission
  • Have completed at least 2 semesters of full time work at Holy Cross and pass every class attempted
  • Have a cumulative GPA equivalent to a B or higher, in addition to a semester GPA equivalent to a B or higher* in the last semester of full time work completed
  • Have passed every class attempted
  • Have a minimum composite SAT of 1100 or a composite ACT of 22 (if she has completed less than 24 credits of work at Holy Cross; scores are not required if more than 24 credits have been completed)
  • Have completed two years of study in the same foreign language at the high school level, or two semesters of the same foreign language at Holy Cross
  • Complete the transfer Common Application, and submit required documentation

*Students are encouraged to apply at the start of their spring semester, but will need to have a B or higher when their spring grades are finalized at the end of the semester.

Transfer applicants from Holy Cross will be considered for all academic merit scholarships, and should complete the FAFSA to be considered for additional institutional, state and federal aid.

The direct admission program with Holy Cross is available for all majors at Saint Mary’s. Here are examples of transfer paths:

Direct Admission Process

  • The decision letter will be mailed out approximately two weeks after the application is complete
  • The review process might be extended for students transferring directly into a major because the application will go through a departmental review
  • Your acceptance letter will include:
    •  A full credit evaluation of transfer credit
    • Completion of the Sophia Program in Liberal Arts curriculum
    • An estimate of the time expected to graduate in the your choice of major
  • Saint Mary’s will send the acceptance and scholarship offer separately to expedite the process if the review takes longer than two weeks
