The diagnosis of autism can have a profound effect, not only on those diagnosed with it, but on the family and society. As a graduate student in the program, you will gain a working knowledge of evidence-based interventions, treatments and services, and government laws and social policies as they relate to autism. You will gain confidence as an advocate and case coordinator in diverse settings such as schools, health care, residential care, social service agencies, and advocacy organizations. Some of the topics to be explored are: navigating government programs; international and cross-cultural perspectives on autism, interdisciplinary teamwork to support families; and prevention, identification, and intervention of abuse and bullying.
