Art Students Create Robots with Engineering Students Read More Art Students Create Robots with Engineering Students This semester nine art students enrolled in Hoefle’s sculpture class Beyond the Object had the opportunity to be paired with University of Notre Dame engineering and computer science students to build robotic toys (a.k.a. electronic sculptures). The 2010 book, by author Rebecca Skloot, tells the story of Henrietta Lacks, a cervical cancer patient who died in 1951 at age 31. Unbeknownst to Lacks or her family, cancer cells taken from her were grown in culture and became an immortal cell line that has been used ever since for medical research.
