Bone Marrow Drive by SMC Stands Up To Cancer January 2, 2014 The Saint Mary’s student club SMC Stands up to Cancer will stand up to the disease with a bone marrow registration drive on Friday, November 21 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Reignbeaux Lounge of Le Mans Hall. Registrants must be between the ages of 18 and 44 to participate. It’s completely painless to sign up, requiring just a swab of the inside of the cheek to get a sample of cells.

College Celebrates Martin Luther King's Legacy (The Observer) January 2, 2014 The enduring legacy of civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr., is celebrated this week at Saint Mary's College with a series of events. Student Laura Early, president of the Sisters of Nefertiti,helped organize the week. She told the student newspaper, "In his ‘I Have a Dream’ speech he [King] said, ‘I have a dream that one day little black girls will be holding hands with little white girls.’ And that really signifies what Saint Mary’s does here: We’re here as a family, we don’t see skin deep."

January 2, 2014 The Nanovic Institute for European Studies at the University of Notre Dame. has awarded Saint Mary’s College student Kelly Konya ’15 the Saint Mary’s College Summer Travel and Research Grant. This generous award of $4,600 will allow Konya to conduct independent research for her project titled “Seamus Heaney: A True Cosmopolitan Lad” in Dublin, Ireland this summer.
