Saint Mary’s Community Gives Back

The Saint Mary’s College Office for the Common Good (OCG) is taking the stress off of South Bend residents this holiday season. As Christmas draws near, the office has answered the call to support those in need by participating in the annual Adopt-a-Family program. Through the support of faculty, staff, and students, the office ensured 103 people in the local community will have gifts under their tree on Christmas morning.

Farmer Joins College’s Sustainable Farm

As 160 chickens enjoyed their morning feed, Matthew Insley beamed with excitement while talking about the future of the Sustainable Farm at Saint Mary’s. The farm, unveiled in 2020, sits on a five-acre plot on the northern edge of campus, and growing toward is meeting its full potential with the arrival of its newest farmer.

Established by Congress, this day honors the achievements of the 19th amendment, which in 1920 gave women the right to vote. As we mark the 100th anniversary, we also recognize that it is not exactly the landmark achievement many people today grew up believing.
