Students can now earn their bachelor’s from Saint Mary’s and a master’s degree from ND in five years, or faster
Saint Mary’s College and the University of Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business are collaborating on new accelerated bachelor’s-to-master’s degree programs. For Saint Mary’s students who meet the criteria for entry, the University will offer guaranteed advance admission to four of its master’s programs. Students will be able to complete their graduate degree with one additional year of coursework or less.
“These new offerings speak to the shared commitment of our two institutions to provide outstanding academic programming for our students,” said Katie Conboy, president of Saint Mary’s College. “At the same time, we are showing students how to maximize the investment in their education by earning a master’s degree at an accelerated pace.”
The new dual-degree programs will ensure that Saint Mary’s undergraduates can complete a baccalaureate degree that includes required coursework for direct entry into the Master of Nonprofit Administration; Master of Science in Management; Master of Science in Finance; and Master of Science in Accountancy programs at Notre Dame.
“For the first time, this direct entry pathway allows Saint Mary’s students who are both business and non-business majors automatically to be considered for a Notre Dame master’s degree,” said Colleen Hoover, associate provost at Saint Mary’s. “These pathways will be popular for students in any discipline who fulfill the prerequisites and feel they would benefit from an advanced degree in a business field.”
For more than 15 years, Saint Mary’s undergraduate students have been able to earn a dual degree in a STEM discipline from Saint Mary’s and in an engineering field at Notre Dame. Students in the program take classes on both campuses and earn two baccalaureate degrees. The new agreements with Mendoza College of Business represent the first direct entry, dual-degree bachelor’s-to-master’s arrangements between Saint Mary’s College and the University of Notre Dame.
