Department of English hosts reading for literary journal release

April 9, 2018 (Notre Dame, Ind.) — The Saint Mary’s College Department of English is hosting a release party tonight for Chimes, the College’s journal of fiction, poetry, and art, and The Avenue, the journal of nonfiction. The reading will be held tonight, April 9 at 7:30 p.m. in Stapleton Lounge, Le Mans Hall. Students, faculty, and the public are invited to hear students published in the journals read excerpts from their work. Click here for a campus map.

Chimes editor Cecilia Greubel ’18, said she is excited to hear from the student writers and present the completed journals today.

“It is an honor to carry on this wonderful tradition of sharing strong women’s voices and great writing within the Saint Mary’s community.”

Co-editor of The Avenue Jessie McCartney ’18 echoes her sentiment.

“I see the journals as a way to preserve and promote the voices of our writers, as well as our artists, here on campus," McCartney said. "Their stories and messages act as a response to the environment we find ourselves in today, both on a personal and communal level. It’s a privilege to play a part in showcasing what they have to say and show.”
