About Stephanie
Hi! I'm Stephanie and I grew up right here in the South Bend area. Thanks to my Catholic school upbringing, I was introduced to Saint Mary's at a young age. My grade school always brought us here for retreats and musicals, and it didn't take long for me to fall in love with this place. When I was a high school junior I decided I was going to attend Saint Mary's, and I never looked back. Now, 10 years after my graduation, I am still here. Saint Mary's transformed me into the woman I am today, and I love that every day I get to come back and share my incredible experiences with other young women who are ready to make this gigantic step in their lives. I am a creative person at heart, and if I could, I would cover the world in glitter - it's my favorite crafting medium! I'm also a mom, and I love that I get to experience the world all over again through my sons' eyes - it makes life so joyful and exciting for me!
Getting to Know Stephanie
Your favorite way to relax:
Spending time with my two little boys, catching up on my DVR, and doing something crafty (I love paint and glitter!).
Something you have tried but will never do again:
Toboggan racing. I was five, and they told me it was fun...WRONG! Perhaps that is what started my fear of roller coasters and driving on ice?
Your favorite historical figure, and why:
Princess Diana - she had style, grace, poise, and beauty. She was compassionate, intelligent, nurturing, and humble. She was beloved by her children. She danced with movie stars and presidents. She was the whole package in my eyes, what I would strive to be in a perfect world.
A TV show you just can't miss:
Under the Dome in the summer, and Castle in the fall.
Your favorite thing about South Bend:
South Bend has been going through revitalization over the past few years. The administration is younger (our mayor is my age!), and the city is growing more exciting by the day. There is always something fun to do or see. It's a great place for college students to be entertained and to experience new things, but it's also a great place for young families to grow and thrive.
Favorite thing about Saint Mary's:
This place is truly magical. It has the power to transform each and every student, as long as they open themselves up to the possibility.
Stephanie's Admission Tip for Prospective Students
Pick a college or university just for you! Don't worry about where your friends, or the rest of your graduating class, are going. Don't focus too much on where family members attended. Find the school that's a perfect fit for you! Visit campuses, spend the night, eat the food, and observe classes. You'll only know what kind of college experience is best for you when you've experienced each kind of opportunity. The more you focus on yourself in your college search, the better college experience you'll have overall.
