Zhao described Saint Mary's students as energetic, diligent, and willing to help others. She said that students not only take part in classes but out of class students can get involved with whatever they want to do.

This is Zhao’s first time in America. In addition to teaching she had the opportunity to take an American culture class. She said the course allowed her to look gain a greater understanding and appreciation for American culture, making her experience more beautiful and colorful.

Zhao attended her first football game at the University of Notre Dame. She said she had never experienced a kind of spirit quite like what she felt inside the Notre Dame’s stadium. She felt a sense of connectivity and belonging.

Zhao will go back to China at the end of the academic year and is eager to share her experience and American culture with her students when she returns.
