Sister Nicholas Gough, CSC
( - September 13, 2007)
Please, join in prayer of thanksgiving
for this Sister of the Holy Cross who
died on September 13, 2007.
Sister Nicholas' motivation for entering Holy Cross was to serve the poor in India. She had learned about the Holy Cross missions in India through a Holy Cross seminarian and so decided to enter Holy Cross even though eight of her school friends were entering the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur.
She held fast to her desire to serve in India and began nurses' training in preparation for that ministry. This led her in a whole new direction in the field of nursing, where she served for almost 50 years, mostly teaching nursing skills to others.
In her years as an instructor she no doubt prepared others for ministry in foreign lands and so vacariously fulfilled her dream.
After her many years of taking care of patients in the hospital, she found it very difficult being a patient herself, but everyone knows that nurses and doctors are certainly not the best patients. She now truly rests in peace. May God bless her for her years of service in preparing others for service in the health field.
