 Sister Olivia Marie Hutcheson, CSC

(October 11, 1917 - May 6, 2008)

Please, join in prayer of thanksgiving for this Sister of the Holy Cross who died on May 6, 2008.

Sister Olivia Marie (Eleanor Louise Hutcheson), CSC, 90, was born in Porterville, CA, to the late Walter Vincent Hutcheson and Margaret Moran Hutcheson. She was the only surviving member of a family of seven children.

There are many wonderful things that could be said about Sister Olivia Marie in her long years of service to the congregation but her deep spirituality permeated all that she did and radiated from her person.

Whether she was supervising nurses or leading hospital staff and board meetings as administrator she projected a quiet, composed and dedicated religious. She did not need lofty positions to demonstrate her leadershipbecause it was manifested in the spirit that burned within her. She loved people in her kind and gentle way and people responded to her in love.

She felt she was gifted to have the last few months of her life to prepare to give her total self to the Lord and let go of things of the earth but this was no drastic change for it was her way of life. She lead many to a deeper spirituality through her spiritual direction and by her own example of a life of prayer. Holy Cross has a strong advocate in heaven with Sister Olivia's passing.

Sister was active in the Ministry of Prayer until her death. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of the Holy Cross Ministry with the Poor Fund, Saint Mary's, Notre Dame, IN 46556.
