Saint Mary's Hosts Day of Math and Science (South Bend Tribune) January 1, 2014 Dozens of middle school girls came to a women’s college earlier this month to shadow students majoring in subjects like math, computer science, chemistry, engineering and biology. It was Hypatia Day at Saint Mary’s College, named for female mathematician Hypatia of Greece. One of the most important figures in Saint Mary's history is Sister Madeleva Wolff, the longest sitting president. Students' Dance Marathon Raises Nearly $87,000 for Children's Hospital January 1, 2014 What gets 400 college students to stay on their feet for 12 hours straight? Saint Mary’s women will tell you they do it for the kids. Dance Marathon, a fundraiser for Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health in Indianapolis, has taken place at Saint Mary’s College for nine years. Students started it and they organize every aspect of it, year in and year out. SMCDM is the largest club at the women’s college. This year’s event, held on Saturday, April 5, raised $86,765.70, bringing the total raised for Riley over the years to more than $600,000.

But will those strides translate into enough opportunities for 2014 college grads? Flexibility and the willingness to relocate if necessary can be keys to succeeding in the job hunt, according to Stacie Jeffirs, director of the Career Crossings Office.
