Father Ted, as he was called by many, was 97. "I was one among many who had the privilege of calling him friend and mentor. His wisdom, common sense, holiness, humor, and love enriched so many lives. When, after 24 years at the University I was preparing to leave Notre Dame and move across the road to Saint Mary's College, he invited me to spend a few hours with him.
