The Cushwa-Leighton Library opened in 1982, named for major benefactors Margaret Hall Cushwa, SMC '30 and Mary Lou Morris Leighton, replacing the Alumnae Centennial Library which is now Haggar Center.
Library Mission Statement
The Cushwa-Leighton Library and its staff provide its users with balanced and diverse sources, services, instruction, and student-centered spaces.
- We use these to develop in students the knowledge, skills, and critical thinking capacities they need in order to find, evaluate, select, and apply information as educated women.
- We support the Saint Mary's College community, as well as the broader scholarly community, in their research endeavors through materials and expertise.
- We collaborate campus-wide to create a dynamic learning environment and provide consistent access to resources.
