GRAND LAKE, Colo. - Saint Mary's freshman Erin Doyle became the lacrosse team's first Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-Region honoree as she was named to the Great Lakes Second Team.
More than 250 Division III women's lacrosse student-athletes were selected to First and Second All-Region teams in eight regions in the 2018 season. Of that number, only 15 honorees were freshmen. Doyle was the lone freshman on either of the two Great Lakes All-Region teams this spring.
The 2018 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Rookie of the Year, Doyle had a record-breaking performance for the Belles in her first season. As of the May 13 NCAA Division III women's lacrosse statistical rankings, she was fourth in total goals among all players across the nation. Doyle is also ranked tenth in goals per game, ninth in total points, 18th in points per game, third in shots on goal per game, and fourth in shots per game. A three-time MIAA Offensive Player of the Week and First Team All-MIAA honoree, she set new program records for goals in a game (9), points in a game (11), goals in a season (92), and points in a season (113).
In total, four MIAA women's lacrosse players were named as Great Lakes All-Region performers this year. IWLCA All-Region student-athletes are now eligible to be named to a national IWLCA All-American team.
