Belles Defeated by Lynx

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Saint Mary's lacrosse team lost a 19-4 game at Rhodes College on Monday afternoon.

The host Lynx scored the first nine goals of the game to mount a sizable advantage through the opening 20 minutes of play.

Sarah Neeser got the Belles on the scoreboard with her first career goal with 8:05 left before the half. Rhodes, however, came back with four more goals over the final 6:39 for a 13-1 lead at the break.

The Belles once again made big improvements from the first half of play to the second. The Saint Mary's squad cut their turnovers in half over the second 30 minutes of play while limiting the Lynx to six goals while scoring three.

Jackie Loesch connected with Katlynn Dee 12 minutes into the second half as Dee notched her first goal of her career to make it a 16-2 contest. Tess Guerrero gave the Belles back-to-back goals with an unassisted effort midway through the half. Aubrey Golembieski tallied the Belles' final goal of the game with less than five minutes remaining in the game.

Stephanie Szymas played all 60 minutes and added 11 saves in goal.

The Belles (0-2) take on Millsaps on the Rhodes campus tomorrow at 4:00 p.m. CST.
