Belles Tie for First at MIAA Jamboree

ALMA, Mich. - The Saint Mary's golf team tied for first place at the MIAA Jamboree hosted by Alma at the Pine River Country Club on Saturday.

The Belles posted a 321 and shared the team-best honors with Hope. Olivet finished third with a 322. Three players tied for medalist honors with matching 76s.

Lauren Read shot a 78 to finish fifth overall. The freshman had ten pars, a birdie, and finished tied for second in par five scoring in the round. Taylor Kehoe had an 80 to tie for sixth. She had a birdie and nine pars while finishing two-over on par three holes on the day.

Courtney Carlson snagged a share of eighth with an 81 after carding eight pars and tying for the fifth-best par four scoring average. Ali Mahoney rounded out the team score with an 82 (t-10th) and had a team-best two birdies to go along with eight pars. Julia McAlindon was the fifth golfer in the lineup and had an 84 (t-17th) while finishing with ten pars and an even scoring round on par three holes.

Kaitlyn Gray competed as an individual and shot a 77 to finish fourth overall. The freshman led the field in par three scoring and posted 12 pars on the day.

The Belles look to overtake Hope's 24-stroke lead at the MIAA End of Season Weekend Jamboree next Friday and Saturday. The two-day season-ending event takes place at Bedford Valley Golf Club in Battle Creek, Michigan.
