Ty West teaches Spanish language, conversation and composition, Spanish for Heritage Speakers, Introduction to Hispanic Cultural Studies, as well as advanced courses on colonial, nineteenth- and twentieth-century literature, history and culture in Latin America. His scholarship focuses on the relationship between the circulation of ideas, subjects in transit and the press in nineteenth-century Latin America with emphasis on Mexico. He has published his research in collected volumes and journals such as the Journal of Latin American Cultural Studies, A Contracorriente, and Revista Tiempo Histórico.
