FREELAND, Mich. - Saint Mary's softball player Cassie Young was selected as the MIAA Position Player of the Week on Monday, April 4.
Young, a sophomore from South Bend, garnered position player accolades after batting 1.000 over two games last week. She went a perfect 7-for-7 in her appearances at the plate with six singles and a double. Young also connected on a sacrifice bunt and stole a base while producing three RBI. The outfielder also made three putouts on defense. She ended the week with a 1.143 slugging percentage and scored two runs in each contest.
It is her first MIAA Player of the Week honor of her career.
