Three New Trustees Serve on the Saint Mary’s College Board of Trustees

September 17, 2014 (Notre Dame, Ind.)—The Saint Mary’s College Board of Trustees, which next meets October 9 and 10, includes three new members. At its spring meeting, the board elected as a trustee Angela McDonald-Fisher ’91, legal counsel for Rolls-Royce North America Inc., and appointed as a student trustee Victoria Wilbraham ’15. A third new member to the Board of Trustees is Kelly Anne Walsh ’01, president of the Alumnae Association Board of Directors and an executive with CNA Insurance. Re-elected to the board for third three-year terms are M. Suzanne Sherer Calandra ’72, Elizabeth R. Culligan ’72, and the Rev. Edward A. Malloy, CSC. The Board re-elected five members to second terms: William W. Cushwa, Gretchen A. Flicker ’93, Patricia Wiedner Purcell ’69, Sister Agnes Anne Roberts, CSC ’51, and David L. Taiclet.

Here is information on the new trustees:

Angela McDonald-Fisher ’91 earned a bachelor’s degree in communication studies from Saint Mary’s College and a law degree from the Indiana University School of Law-Bloomington. She also studied International Law in London. McDonald-Fisher is an engaged alumna of Saint Mary’s College, serving on the Alumnae Association Board of Directors from 2012 until this spring when she had to vacate the position to join the Board of Trustees. McDonald-Fisher was invited to be the featured speaker at the 2014 Multiethnic Commencement Celebration on campus in May. She joined Rolls-Royce North America Inc. in Indianapolis in April 2006. Her 18 years of legal experience include various positions with Honeywell Corporation, Ingersoll-Rand and USX Corporation.  She also served as general counsel of the Indiana Port Authority. She has expertise in the areas of international transactions, corporate law and commercial transactions. She resides in Carmel, Indiana.

Kelly Anne Walsh ’01
earned a bachelor’s degree in statistics and actuarial mathematics at Saint Mary’s College and a master’s in business administration from the University of Notre Dame. Walsh has been with CNA Insurance her entire career. She started in the corporate headquarters in Chicago before moving to Philadelphia in 2010 and then Baltimore in 2012. In her 13 years with the company, Walsh has held various positions in both the actuarial and underwriting departments. She is currently the branch underwriting director for the Baltimore office. Walsh has been an active member of the alumnae clubs where she has lived, including with the Chicago East Alumnae Club where she chaired events that included a student sendoff and a fundraiser for the club’s endowed scholarship. In 2006 the Saint Mary’s College Alumnae Association recognized her with the Outstanding Young Alumna Award. Walsh has served on the Alumnae Association Board of Directors since 2012. She was elected president in the spring of 2014 and in that position she serves on the Board of Trustees. Walsh resides in Cockeysville, Maryland.

Victoria Wilbraham ’15
, a history and religious studies major minoring in gender and women’s studies, joins the Board of Trustees for a one-year term as a full voting member. Her activities have included studying abroad with the Rome Program, volunteering with La Casa de Amistad in South Bend, and serving as the director of community involvement for The Smart Girls Group, a national girls empowerment movement. Over the summer of 2014, she interned in London with The Girls’ Network, an organization that tackles gender inequality by pairing girls in the UK with professional female mentors. The Newton Square, Pennsylvania native is also a leader of a Campus Ministry student letter writing campaign called Voices of Young Catholic Women, which encourages women of the Millennial Generation (18-30) to write Pope Francis about their love for the Catholic tradition and ideas for how the Church might better reach their demographic. This is in response to data that shows women in this age group are leaving the Church at a faster rate than men.
