About The Program

Fischoff Chamber Music Intensive, in partnership with Saint Mary’s College, supports young musicians as they dive deeply into the world of chamber music. Students will work intimately in small ensembles to strengthen both performance and life skills such as collaboration, communication, leadership, respect, and creative problem-solving through chamber music.

Students will be grouped into trios, quartets, and quintets, based upon their proficiency. They will work closely with Fischoff’s quartet-in-residence and professional musicians in a variety of settings including chamber music coaching sessions, masterclasses, workshops, solo and ensemble performances, and community engagement opportunities. Students receive free admission to all faculty concerts, and the program finale will be a capstone performance of all participating ensembles in the Moreau Center for the Arts at Saint Mary’s.

How to Apply

Applicants are required to submit a completed application with recent video recordings to the Fischoff Chamber Music Intensive (details below). The deadline for applications is April 16th; please note that we can only accept 30 students. Acceptance is based on students' skill levels and ensemble availability.

Audition Requirement

Two contrasting solo works of 3-7 minutes demonstrating technical skills and musical expression (keyboard accompaniment is preferable, but not required)

All applicants must submit an unedited video recording. Recordings should be uploaded to YouTube, or shared from Google Drive, Dropbox, or a similar file-sharing service. Please be sure your audition videos are clearly titled (e.g. John Smith, flute – Humoresque, Op. 101, No. 7 by Dvořák). Audition videos must clearly display the hands and face of the applicant at all times during the performance.
